Combat rules

  •   The minimum belt level required for entering the competition of HOKUTORYU is green and above it. These competitions are full encounter except those moves which are prohibited and referees have to check this carefully..
  • The time span for combat is three minutes. The final of the combat has two time spans each of two minutes and between these two
    time- spans is a one minute rest time
  • The area for the combat is a special mattress of 7*7. A one meter yellow tape is added to this mattress and as  a safety and boundary.
  • Three referees control the competition. One referee in the middle and two referees for help
  • The dress of the contestant should be white, proper and clean and can use related equipment
  • The combat starts with the word of HAJME and in case of interruption in the game, it’s finished with the word of YAME.
  • The competition starts with paying respect to the referee first and then to each other

Points

  • Hitting fist ……………………………………………1 point

  • Throwing completely ……………………………….. 3 points
  • Throwing incompletely by hitting ground ……………. 2 points

 

  • During the combat the referee can award points to that person who is more active and technical.
  • The competition can be ended before its due time in conditions such as on contestant not being able to continue due to hits from the other contestant and referee declaring the non ability of the contestant
  • If at the end of the competition the contestants get equal points the winner is that person who has exhibited better techniques, was more active and had the competition in control
  • As a rule, in the competition of HOKUTORYU there is no draw game and that person will be winner who has done any of the above things

Prohibited hits and moves

  • Punch on head and face
  • Non sportsman behavior during competition
  • Punch and kick to the back of neck spine between legs kicking the head with holding the rival
  • Trying to throw and choke the rival simultaneously
  • Moving and locking the spine simultaneously
  • Injury of the rival due to prohibited techniques.
  • Running away and showing that you are terrified and showing off
  • The referee can in case of realigning the use of prohibited techniques which are done on purpose expel the person

Prohibited areas

  • Neck, back, any type of hit to the knee, muscle, between legs, spine, throot

Defining prohibited moves

1.Hitting the elbow.

2.Hitting the head.

3.Hitting with head.

4.Hitting with both hands.

5.Hitting with side of hands.

6.Hitting with palm of hands.

Non score hits

  • Similar hits having same score
  • The useless hits of hands

Safety equipments of contestants

  • Standard boxing gloves ( adults, 10 ounce )( youngster, 8 ounce )( children, 6 ounce )
  •   Crotch safe, safety leg shield, foot cover, chin safety hat, hand bands

Review

  • All the age require high and thick covering, youngster and children should have Hugo.
  • In professional competitions, adults are prohibited from using foot cover safety leg shield, Hugo, chin safety hat.

Referees

The competition takes place with the presence of three referee including middle referee side referee and a recording referee time checker and a head referee.

Competitions venue

The formal competitions of HOKUTORYU take place inside the ring but for a selected selection it can be perfumed in the court.

Notice for contestants

There is a possibility that during competition contestants and referee being unable to continue there may occur some argument for hindering such arguments the coach should be carefully and speculate all the possibilities and their solution and act accordingly calling names and pushing referee etc out of sportsmanship.
